Fun Night - Volunteers Needed

Family Fun Night is one of the best nights of the year for all the students and families at Prairie Trail Elementary.

This event is free to you and your student but in order to keep it that way, we need a couple volunteers! We have kept the volunteer time slots only a half hour long so you can also enjoy the night with your family. There are two ways you or your family can volunteer…

1) We still need 15 MIDDLE SCHOOL OR HIGH SCHOOL VOLUNTEERS to help with games!  If you have a child that can volunteer, please email Megan at megan@pmapparel.com.

Volunteers are needed from 3:30 pm - 7 pm and can receive silver cord hours.

2) Adult volunteers are required to help handle the food and help with inflatables!

All shifts are only 30 minutes!  Please sign up below if you can help!

Meals From the Heartland

“Change the World” with Meals from the Heartland

We’re collecting your change! Starting Monday, March 6th each classroom will have a coin dispenser for your child to bring in their spare change. Even a little bit will help offset the cost of holding this impactful event. The PTO will fund the rest. This year we’ve set a goal of packaging 20,000 meals! We will be taking change until the event on Friday, March 24th.

$1.50 = 6 meals

$6.25 = 25 meals

$12.50 = 50 meals

Meals from the Heartland is a non-profit organization in Des Moines which focuses on packaging non-perishable meal bags for people in need. Meals are sent to 37 different countries, including all over the United States and even local families in Iowa.

All students will learn about the process and will get to walk through the packaging area.  This year, only the 3rd - 5th graders will be allowed to package the meals due to new regulations. We also need your help! Please visit the Better Impact Website for more information and volunteer opportunities.  All paperwork and background checks must be completed two weeks before this event. Thank you!!
